Sweet Smoky Apple Compote

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. cored Honeycrisp apples - roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup MoninĀ® Monin Hickory Smoke Syrup - divided

Instructions

      1. To a heavy bottomed saucepot add the apples, brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of the syrup and 1/4 cup of water.
      2. Cover with a heavy fitting lid and heat over medium-low, stirring occasionally.
      3. Cook until the apples have softened but still hold their shape slightly and are golden brown in color.
      4. Remove from the heat and stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of syrup.
      5. Cover tightly and refrigerate until use. Can be served warm or cold.
