Inspired by flavour from the very beginning
-
A Frenchman and small-town manufacturer, Georges Monin loved to entertain. He reveled in family gatherings where he could experiment with flavour combinations, prepare savory meals, and spend time with those closest to him. At one family dinner, his brother-in-law asked for an after-dinner drink. As Georges poured the cordial into glasses, he noticed the aroma was muted and the colour dull. He gave it a quick taste, and immediately decided that after serving a meal filled with such delectable flavours and captivating aromas, the cordial was an unfitting way to end the evening. He scoured his bar, only to realize that each cordial had a similar lackluster flavour to the first.
Not long after, Georges realized that impactful flavour was missing from many of the beverages that he drank. He determined that he could use his manufacturing and culinary knowledge to extract flavour from vibrant, fresh fruits to create a liquid flavouring that could be used in anything from cordials to coffees to water.Â
Georges scoured the cities of France for raw ingredients and experimented with flavours in his home kitchen. After years of trial and error, he finally created a flavoured cordial that met his demanding standards. From there he continued to experiment and developed a spectrum of exciting flavours and syrups, bottling and selling them across the country. Three generations of Monin later, the world is a more flavourful place, with a vast collection of the world’s finest flavours available in more than 140 countries.
